Schools are invited to join us (free of charge) online for a very special virtual event with M.G. Leonard, the bestselling and award-winning children’s author of Beetle Boy, Twitch, Adventures on Trains, and The Ice Children as she presents her epic blockbusting adventure meets the mystery of time travel in Hunt for the Golden Scarab, the first title of the Time Keys series.
Recommended age: year groups 3-6
As part of this 45-minute interactive schools’ event, students will travel through time back to Ancient Egypt with bestselling and award-winning author, M. G. Leonard. Discover how a trip down the Nile inspired her newest fast-paced adventure Hunt for the Golden Scarab. Explore the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of the Pharaohs can be found, unravel the ancient art of mummification, learn about heart scarabs, the Book of the Dead and the possible location of the lost tomb of Nefertiti. This event is perfect for adventure enthusiasts, budding Egyptologists and time travellers.
Schools will also have the chance to put questions to M.G. Leonard for this special event.
M. G. Leonard has made up stories ever since she was little. Back then, adults called them lies or tall tales, so she didn’t write them down. Now, she makes up stories about wonderous beetles, beautiful birds, adventures on trains or anything that sparks her imagination. She is the bestselling and award-winning writer of children’s books such as Beetle Boy, the Adventures on Trains series and The Twitcher books.
Waterstones Virtual Author Visits are the perfect opportunity to encourage reading for pleasure, introducing children to new books as well as fabulous author & illustrators, and to help inspire a love of reading even in the most reluctant readers. Taking part will support children’s literacy, creative writing and encourage a love of reading for pleasure.
Taking place on Zoom, this 45-minture webinar session will include a live presentation from the author, giving students the chance to hear about the authors book, career and experiences. There will also be a chance for children to have their questions answered live during the event!
